HONEST PORTRAITS

Honest Portraits follows on from Honest Landscapes and explores the idea of portrait as a concept or paradigm. These are portraits in portrait orientation. Any picture of a person is intrinsically a portrait, thus the paradigm to follow here has to be my own. These works are based on two portraits that have been important to me since an early age: a picture of Christ laughing, and el Greco’s Nobleman with his Hand on his Chest. Most of the base images have been taken with simple photographing devices, including mobile phones. And not necessarily by me, as very many were arranged by the subjects themselves following my precise instructions and then sent to me for re-using, re-working and re-photographing.
